History of Kentuckiana Good Sams Chapter
Kentuckiana Good Sam Campers is located in the greater Louisville, KY area. It was organized in March, 2001, and
was officially chartered April 10, 2001. The first President was Tom Brown. That
first year the chapter had 17 members, and grew to 20 the following year. The rapid growth
resulted in the chapter splitting in June 2002, and nine members remained in the original chapter after the split.
The newly elected 2002 chapter president was Max Everett. From then until
present there have been three additional presidents. In June 2008 the
chapter was selected by the National Good Sam Club to win the 2008 award for
the highest overall increase in membership for the state of Kentucky. The
chapter was awarded $50.
Now it is 2016, and the chapter is still going strong. Currently we have 21
active units. Our campouts are held the second Saturday (weekend) of
each month during the summer months of Apr-Nov. We have fun filled weekends
camping at local campgrounds, where we always have organized games, potluck
dinner, and meeting. During the winter months we continue the fun and
fellowship when we host our monthly dinner and chapter meeting at local
restaurants to keep the camaraderie and friendships vibrant and alive.
In the Good Sam tradition of fun, fellowship and giving, we have generously
given to local charities, which included the Crusade for Children and
Wayside Christian Mission in recent years. Our chapter is very active in the
KY State Samborees, as well as caravanning to out of state Samborees. Our fun
loving chapter is frequently recognized for our fun and spirit at out of
state events. We are more than a Good Sam Chapter – we are a fun loving
extended family enjoying a shared hobby and RV/camping lifestyle.
