History of Cave Country Sams Chapter
ABOUT US. You should belong to a local Chapter for the three FFF's Food, Fun, Fellowship, as well as the games, travel, crafts, etc. Our Chapter was started in 1999 by a group of campers meeting at Beech Bend in Bowling Green, KY. We currently have 20 rigs, we have both active and inactive members. Chapter members support each other by having monthly campouts, and during winter months, having dinner meetings. The more you are involved, the more fun you seem to have.
Community Activities: We have annual charity auctions to raise monies for non-profit organizations. We support local charities and do something annually for a local nursing home facility. Our Chapter also supports Dogs for the Deaf (our chapter won the 2010 top dog award winner in KY).
Meetings: We are a social organization and meet the third weekend of each month. When we are not camping we meet at various locations. These meetings takes place generally November through March. We have a dinner and it is followed by a meeting.
Campouts: We camp on the third weekend from April through October. Most of our campouts are within 100 mile radius of our hosts location for the month. When camping we have a Potluck dinner on Sat @6 p.m. and our chapter meeting follows. We camp at different Campgrounds, State & Federal Parks. The other four months we have meetings at various locations as mentioned previously.
To join: In order to join a local Good Sam Chapter, you must be a member of The Good Sam Club. Being a member of Good Sam, makes you eligible to join a local Chapter. Dues vary by Chapter, and some Chapters require you to attend 1-3 campouts or meetings before becoming a member. This like the Dues vary by chapter. After members are inducted they are given chapter by-laws and camping schedule.
We always welcome prospective members. Contact our President by clicking on the e-mail link above.
